The Lanna style house with one storey

Whereas the living areas of other 'Lanna' houses are laid out around a patio, this domicile has been designed with a covered living terrace with additional living space on the second floor. This storey is integrated with the roof, therefore even though the house can be described as sturdy; it is not a very high building. The house harmonizes well with the surroundings within the project as well as with the scenery beyond.

A very important criteria for this house is that it is positioned in such a way that the most advantage is taken of the views from the living room, the kitchen, the large patio terrace and the sundeck situated above. This house can be built on various sections of our project, although more than others it requires a good balance between the desired plot and the location of the house on that section. A prerequisite for this house is plenty of space.

Although the architecture fits within the 'Lanna' concept, the arrangement of the house is typically Western. The lay-out is, however, completely adapted to living in the tropics. The feature of this house is the main building with a second storey and the two side wings that have been built in a slight angle to the main building. Together with the large, arch-shaped and covered terrace, and the sundeck situated above, the building style with a stately feel.

You enter via the covered front patio through a wide front door into the hall. From there, you can look past the bar directly into the living area. The office/working room is located adjacent to the entrance hall. This is an ideal layout for whoever wishes to work from home or who wants to welcomes people for professional business or hobbies, as it keeps the office or hobby room separate from the living area. For this reason, there is also a visitor's convenience in the entrance hall. In addition, there is a large built-in cupboard for daily cleaning utilities and storage located here, as well as the main electrical switchboard.

You enter the living room via the bar mentioned earlier. The open bar gives the living room a lot of depth in the direction of the entrance. The living room itself is an area suited to a creative interior design. Noticeable features are the large French sliding windows and doors, which allow you to enjoy the spectacular views from every corner of the living room. The large windows give the living room a lot of depth in the direction of the covered terrace, which in fact, forms one large living space, together with the living room. In the right corner, next to the sliding door that opens onto the covered terrace, is the decorative wooden spiral staircase that leads to the second storey. The entrances to the kitchen and the master bedroom are located along the left wall.

The Right Wing

The very spacious kitchen is located here, which in consultation with the resident, can be fitted in either a traditional Western or American style. The bordering outdoor kitchen is entirely Thai and serves the purpose of the more 'spicy dishes' and certainly also for contact with your Thai visitors.

The master bedroom has a spacious design. Just as in the kitchen, one wall is on a slight angle, which makes it less static. Through direct access from the bedroom, you can enter the bathroom, which has a built-in Jacuzzi as a standard feature.

The Left Wing

The guest room has its own entrance in order to ensure maximum privacy. It is situated next to the covered terrace. The entrance is also covered in order to protect against sun and rain. The guestroom is so spacious that it can also be used as a living room and bedroom.. Of course, this guest room has its own bathroom, complete with bath and shower. If desired, this bathroom could be made accessible to the office by fitting an extra door. In this way, interior access would be created to the guest room.

The Second Floor

You can access the second floor via the staircase. At the top, you reach a corridor, which gives access to a spacious, multifunctional area. The layout allows for the area to be used as a self-contained apartment for a permanent resident. However, it could also be well-used for work, hobbies, music or film purposes. It is truly a superb space, partly due to the amazing views on both sides. Especially the side above the covered terrace, which is a sundeck on the second storey, has a spectacular view over the beautiful trees, waterways and hills of Chiangrai. This sun terrace is accessible via the French sliding door. The fact that the terrace creates substantially more living space is also applicable here.

The area on the second floor also has its own spacious bathroom with shower. Furthermore, there is also a large storage room on this storey.

Large ventilation shafts are located on both long sides of the upper unit. In all 'Lanna' style houses, these ventilation areas are situated above the ceiling, beneath the roof. They serve the purpose of extracting warm air from the house. If desired, the building plans can be slightly altered in order to utilize these shafts for storage space.

Infrastructure

Each 'Lanna' house has its own water supply, which consists of a deep-well pump, a water storage tank and two automatic pumps. One is for filtered tap water for the house and one is for watering the garden. In contrast to the other 'Lanna' houses, where these facilities are integrated into the house, the Meesuk has a free- standing pump shed that is separate from the main building. This standard room, which measures 3x3 metres, has a water tank under the floor. In this 'shed', there are a number of automatic pumps and a water filter. There is plenty of space left over for you lawnmower, other garden equipment and a workbench if desired. The carport is located next to the pump building and has a roof in the same style as the house.
